It is my great honor and pleasure to be one of the very first Executive Directors to ever become a Certified Director of Assisted Living. This certification touches my heart. It exemplifies a dedication that this profession embodies. Serving our elderly population in a manner that assures them they are valued, loved, and respected means making sure that everything is in place for them to continue aging with dignity, grace, and joy. It means ensuring their living environment is protected while also uplifting to their spirits. Creating a team of associates who are ethically minded and who bring their hearts to work every day, is critical to becoming an excellent Executive Director.
It has been my great joy to have such an amazing team of people working alongside me every day. Though there are days of challenge, those days also make me stronger and wiser. After 10 years of being an ED, I have learned that it takes persistence, the ability to problem solve, encourage, and manage with humility. I believe that this certification will tell our peers and the larger community at hand that we are here because we have the desire to make life the best it can be for our seniors. As more and more Executive Directors strive to achieve this certification, the more our senior population will come to realize that assisted living communities are truly there for them. It will become a destination they can look forward to….one they so rightfully deserve. As we say here in our assisted living community, “Here’s To Life”!
