Background Experience

Q. I have nursing home experience only. Am I eligible for the exam?

Eligibility requirements are posted online. Among other requirements, professionals must have at least three years (6,000 hours) work experience working in a licensed assisted living community.

Testing Sites

Q. Where is the closest testing site to me?

The Certified Director of Assisted Living Examination is an Internet-based exam, administered at testing centers in all 50 states.

Registration Payment

Q. My employer is an Argentum member, how do I receive my registration discount?

Candidates employed by Argentum member companies receive a discount code to input into the registration system. Please contact Robert Oliveri,, if you cannot locate your discount code or are unsure of where to input your code.

Q. My employer has pre-paid for my registration, how do I register for the examination?

Some companies have opted to bulk purchase registrations for a group of their employees. Please contact Robert Oliveri,, to verify you are part of your employers’ registration group and receive instructions on registration.


Q. I recently achieved my CDAL credential. When will I need to re-certify, and what does re-certification require?

The Senior Living Certification Commission does require re-certification of your credential every three years. Please visit the Recertification page for more details.
