Background Experience

Q. I have nursing home experience only. Am I eligible for the exam?

Eligibility requirements are posted online. Among other requirements, professionals must have at least three years (6,000 hours) work experience working in a licensed assisted living community.

Testing Sites

Q. Where is the closest testing site to me?

The Certified Director of Assisted Living Examination is an Internet-based exam, administered at testing centers in all 50 states.

Registration Payment

Q. My employer is an Argentum member, how do I receive my registration discount?

Candidates employed by Argentum member companies receive a discount code to input into the registration system. Please contact Robert Oliveri, roliveri@argentum.org, if you cannot locate your discount code or are unsure of where to input your code.

Q. My employer has pre-paid for my registration, how do I register for the examination?

Some companies have opted to bulk purchase registrations for a group of their employees. Please contact Robert Oliveri, roliveri@argentum.org, to verify you are part of your employers’ registration group and receive instructions on registration.

Re-certification

Q. I recently achieved my CDAL credential. When will I need to re-certify, and what does re-certification require?

The Senior Living Certification Commission does require re-certification of your credentials, but details are still being developed. Please be assured that once finalized, ample time will be made available to meet the re-certification requirements.
